Plan to attend our Regional Producer Meeting on Thursday, February 20, 2014.
The Farmers Market.co and Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) are hosting a Regional Farmers Market Meeting on Thursday February 20th to provide information to existing and prospective vendors for the 2014 market season. As many producers are common to the Fredericksburg, King George, and Spotsylvania farmers markets, we are conducting one regional meeting to be more effective in the use of your time. The meeting will be held at the Downtown Branch of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library, located at 1201 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
The program for the Regional Farmers Market Meeting will offer information that will be of value to all producers regardless of the market at which they sell (see the program below). Our keynote speaker is Charles Green, the Marketing Director at Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS). He will to talk about how family farms can effectively market their products and recent food safety updates. Gayle Price, Co-Market Manager at the Fredericksburg Farmers Market, will speak about the world of social media as a potential marketing tool. Her presentation will be helpful to the first time social media marketer, as well as the more experienced marketer. Our program will also include a review of the 2013 market season and detailed information about the upcoming 2014market season for each market.
A representative from the VDACS Weights and Measures Service Agency will be present at the meeting to calibrate your scales free of charge. Don’t forget to bring them with you.
Parking for this event is available in the lot directly behind the Library with no time limit, and on the surrounding streets with a 2 hour limit.
Program check-in opens at 9:30 a.m. on February 20th. The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon and the afternoon session will run until 2:00 p.m.
