It’s that time of year to begin planning for another exciting market season. We would like to invite anyone interested in selling at the Fredericksburg Farmers Market to a vendor meeting on March 8, 2012 at the Dorothy Hart Community Center at 7:30 pm in Room 2. The Community Center is located at 408 Canal Street in the City of Fredericksburg.
During this meeting we will discuss last year’s changes as well as upcoming events for the 2012 season. On the first Saturdays in June, July, August, and September, Prince Edward Street will be closed at William and George Streets. On those Saturdays, vendors who normally set up on George Street will set up on the north side of Prince Edward and the vendors along Prince Edward Street will set up in the street facing those vendors. The first Saturday in August, August 4th, will be the Family Table event, with additional children’s activities in Hurkamp Park.
For the Farmers Market rules and application for 2012, click here. The City of Fredericksburg requires all vendors — other than farmers selling their own products –to have a city business license. If you are selling products other than agricultural products you have grown, you must fill out and submit the a Business License application. Additionally, you must also collect a meal’s tax if you are selling single serving items for immediate consumption. If you have any questions about the Business License and Meals Tax Registration forms, please contact Ms. Christie Tompkins, Chief Deputy of the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue by calling 540-372-1004 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. You may return the completed business license and meals tax forms to: Commissioner of the Revenue, City of Fredericksburg, 715 Princess Anne St, PO Box 644, Fredericksburg, VA 22404.
Please return the completed Farmers Market application, with signed approval from your respective County Extension agent, by March 20th, to the Parks and Recreation Department, Dorothy Hart Community Center, 408 Canal Street. If applicable, please include a copy of any VDACS (Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services) inspection certifications.
We will contact you when the market manager has finalized reviewing the applications and spaces have been assigned. Seniority and diversity of product sold will be considered when assigning spaces. Please note that just because you apply for a spot at the market, this does not guarantee that you will be a vendor this season.
